Service bureaus – The demands of processing microfilm created a market for micrographics service bureaus that would film large numbers of documents for their clients. As digital imaging has come into vogue, many of these service bureaus have become high-volume document imaging shops. There are also service bureaus that specialized in data entry, often utilizing a combination of OCR/ICR processes and offshore keying. There is also a niche market for converting microfilm and fiche into digital images.
