Brainware Announces Distiller V5

Newest Innovations Radically Reduce Time-to-Value for Enterprise Accounts

November 2, 2009, Ashburn, VA — Brainware, Inc., a provider of intelligent data capture and enterprise search solutions, today announced the release of its latest version of Brainware Distiller™ for automated data extraction and document processing. Brainware Distiller V5 was developed specifically to meet the needs of Global 2000 organizations. New capabilities include:

  • Browser-Based Verification – Brainware Distiller users can now review and verify documents anytime and anywhere using a standard web browser. This application further reduces the already low IT investments required to deploy and support the solution.
  • CJKT Recognition and Extraction – Brainware Distiller now supports double-byte character recognition and extraction, enabling users to process documents in languages that include Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Thai.
  • 48-Hour Implementation – Brainware’s proprietary intelligent technologies eliminate the extensive setup times required to train and configure traditional keyword and template-based solutions. This enables Brainware to deliver fully operational solutions in as little as 48-hours, versus the months and years required to achieve the same results from other solutions.

“In today’s financial climate, companies tell us they’re more risk averse and that new business and IT initiatives must show a rapid return and low cost of ownership to justify consideration,” explained Charles Kaplan, Vice President of Marketing and Product Management at Brainware. “To meet these demands, we have continued to develop our core technologies and the Distiller platform to achieve setup and deployment times that no other vendor in the industry can match.”

TOSHIBA AMERICA BUSINESS SOLUTIONS ANNOUNCES NEW SOFTWARE SOLUTIONS THAT IMPROVE DOCUMENT MANAGEMENT, CAPTURE, WORK FLOW AND OUTPUT

New deskRecord, deskSystem, and deskForm Applications Provide Easy-to-Use, Easy-to-Install, Affordable Software Solutions

IRVINE, Calif., (Oct. 27, 2009) – Toshiba America Business Solutions (TABS) today announced the launch of three new software solutions – deskSystem, deskRecord and deskForm – designed to improve document management, capture, work flow, and output for multifunction printer (MFP) users. These solutions represent tier one offerings in a new, multi-tiered Toshiba software strategy announced to dealers over the summer during Regional Summits in Las Vegas and New Jersey. The “desk” software developed by Prism Software Corporation, targets small- to mid-sized businesses requiring affordable entry-level solutions. These solutions are also easy for dealers to install, connect, and complement the award-winning Toshiba MFP line-up. Software add-on options within tier one will range between $495 and $3,995.

“Part of the reason we designed a tiered strategy was to help our SMB customers who had a need for software add-ons, but often felt that the options available in the marketplace were too advanced and thus too costly for their particular needs. This made it difficult for them to fully maximize productivity and efficiency within their offices. By offering simplified, affordable solutions, we can meet their needs, increase their productivity and improve their bottom line,” said Joseph Contreras, director, Product and Solutions Marketing, TABS. “At the same time, we’re providing an opportunity for Toshiba dealers to complement MFP sales and build professional services practices by offering solutions that are easy to deploy.”

Radiology Healthcare Provider Deploys eGistics' Digital Medical Solution

Solution enables healthcare providers to improve administrative operations, reduce costs

DALLAS, October 27, 2009 -- eGistics, Inc., today announced that Consultants in Radiology, P.A. (CIRPA), a Texas-based radiology practice led by 14 board-certified physicians, has deployed eGistics' Digital Medical Practice (DMP) solution. The hosted eGistics solution will help CIRPA improve operating efficiency, accelerate document research, and streamline secondary billing.

CIRPA offers advanced imaging technology through two clinics and 40 telerad locations, as well as radiology services through two Texas Health Resources facilities. Its radiologists also provide interpretation services for the imaging centers, and for the hospital units themselves.

CIRPA is deploying the eGistics DMP solution to all of its practice facilities and to the offices of all of its radiology interpretation partners. Using Scan-to-Web technology, DMP converts paperwork to digital images that can be used across the practice, from reception to billing. CIRPA is scanning and archiving a wide range of documents related to care delivery, accounts receivables, accounts payable, equipment management, facilities accreditation, physician/technician accreditation, human resources, and state and federal government compliance. The eGistics hosted solution makes document images immediately available for research and for assisting with documentation for secondary billing.

"Moving administrative paperwork across a physicians practice is inefficient, and typically requires staff to waste a lot of time handling, filing and retrieving documents," said CIRPA Administrator Rebecca Greenwood. "With the eGistics DMP solution, we can quickly scan patient and practice documents and electronically have them at our fingertips when we need them, from any PC."

Built on the eGistics hosted document management platform, DMP enables physician practices to digitize much of their office paperwork, streamline administrative operations, and reduce the costs associated with managing and distributing physical documents. By placing all administrative documents online, practice staff do not waste time trying to locate documents or correspondence, in turn, reducing the time to resolve denied or underpaid claims. In addition, the solution facilitates regulatory compliance by electronically managing credentialing documents. And it ensures disaster recovery and business continuity by storing information online and making it accessible via the Web.

With DMP, practice groups can also set document-specific expiration dates, such as when contracts need to be renewed. And, because eGistics DMP solution is built on the company's hosted platform, it requires no capital investment and offers a variable expense, "pay-as-you-go" pricing model.

"Despite all the hype about personal health records and other initiatives to electronify document management in the healthcare space, the industry still faces a daunting combination of paper-based processes, fragmented systems and processes, and little optimization across organizations," said eGistics Executive Vice President of Sales and Corporate Development R. Edwin Pearce. "eGistics is delivering solutions such as DMP to bridge information silos and optimize the management, storage and delivery of information that healthcare organizations need across the enterprise."

CROWLEY IMAGING SERVICES OPENS MICHIGAN BRANCH; NEARLY TRIPLES CONVERSION SPACE

Frederick, MD – Christopher Crowley, president of The Crowley Company, announces the expansion of the firm’s imaging services department with the opening of a 32,000 SF digital and analog conversion facility in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The new branch, second to the 20,000 SF conversion bureau in the company’s Frederick headquarters, comes on the heels of a multi-year agreement with NA Publishing, Inc.

The agreement allows Crowley the exclusive rights to perform microfilm/microform services for periodicals on behalf of NA Publishing, Inc. Additional imaging services offered include: microfilm scanning, microfiche scanning, aperture card scanning, processing, mounting, duplicating, e-beaming, converting and distributing as required. Loose estimates are that the company will process nearly 30 million pages, 150,000 reels and millions of individual images over the life of the contract, which is open for annual renewal following original contract completion.

As part of the agreement, Joe Mills, NA Publishing’s executive vice president of manufacturing and operations, will be employed by The Crowley Company and direct the Ann Arbor operations.

“As an industry,” states Crowley, “the micrographics market is consolidating. Firms having in-house departments that are not the core business are finding it economically and technologically feasible to outsource. Southeast Michigan is a hub of publishing activity. With our digitizing services in Maryland operating at full bore, this investment puts us in a position for immediate and future growth. It allows us to take advantage of a qualified work force that has suffered reductions in recent years and to expand services to our existing customers already in the area.”

The Crowley Company will transfer 40 employees from NA Publishing, Inc.’s current micrographics/imaging department to staff the new facility and perform digital and analog image conversions.

DocuWare wins Best Private Sector Project of the Year by Document Manager (DM) Magazine

London – October 29, 2009 – Document Manager (DM) Magazine, a leading publication on ECM in the UK, organized the annual DM awards on October 22, 2009, recognizing the industry leaders in document management in the UK. The award “Best Private Sector Project of the Year” represents the best software project chosen for the most notable technology to improve document management and workflow, increase time savings and lower costs in a privately held company.

The judging was done by a panel consisting of four industry experts in the UK: Rory Staunton at Strategy Partners, Dave Tyler of DM Magazine, Martin Woldron of In-Form Consult, and Tony Heldon at Cimtech. DocuWare was selected for its ease of use, low cost, speed, and browser capabilities that allow for a rather unique document workflow process at Serviceline, an industrial kitchen maintenance company. The workflow starts with a digital pen and pad (by Destiny Plc.) and ends up in DocuWare on a job manager’s pc via the Internet, and later is accessible by anyone. The integration into Destiny Plc’s Destiny Pen gives Serviceline the capability to save all documents pertaining to a job in one document pool from the moment it is checked off.

Stefan Schindler, Director at DocuWare Ltd., remarks: "This integration project proved to have many advantages, one of which is that due to DocuWare’s Web Client, engineers in the field are able to access the status of the job from any location which saves enormous amounts of resources. As soon as a job is checked off as done using the Destiny digital pen, an invoice can be created and sent out; this truly increases cash flow.”
